- Your initiative in one line
- Overcome barriers to adoption of timber, specifically uncertain and negative perceptions, in the context of Italy
- Initiative Description
-
Built by Nature, a network and grant-making organisation with a mission to accelerate the timber building transformation in Europe, has provided an Accelerator Fund grant to support research into perception barriers to mass timber adoption in Italy, co-funded by Lendlease.
The goal of this initiative is overcome barriers to adoption of timber, specifically uncertain and negative perceptions, in the context of Italy/Milan.
This is a journey with relevant built environment parties (the Big 6) to collectively overcome perception barriers.
- Implementation
-
Sustainability at the heart of MIND strategy, but timber has to be seen to work socially and economically
MIND ecosystem provides a unique opportunity to facilitate change. Through this initiative, we will create opportunities to engage with the stakeholders of mass timber in construction.
We want to extend the opportunity to the rest of the existing MiND innovation systems.
Expected Benefit
- Bring the industry towards the Carbon Zero Mission.
- Bringing timber construction to Milan and Italy on an unprecedented scale.
- Timeline
-
The project will run for 9 months (starting Q1 2022).
It will include series of workshops hosting conversations and fostering dialogue with the Big 6 (Developers, Investors, Cities, Insurers, Asset Owners and Designers) with the aim to collectively overcome perception barriers to the adoption of timber in Milan.
