I am full professor of Environmental Thermodynamics at the Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano, (since 2004) and rector's delegate for Energy Transition. Main research topics: decarbonisation scenarios of the national energy system, use of energy in cities and buildings, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, thermally activated refrigeration cycles, district heating and cooling, solar thermal technologies, physics of buildings. I participated and coordinated several international working groups at the International Energy Agency (IEA) - Solar Heating and Cooling Program and Heat Pump Annex. I am currently a member of the “Consultative Group to support the joint IEA-Italy Project: Smarter digital power infrastructure to enhance energy efficiency, resilient systems and energy transitions”. I was co-coordinator of the working group on the Decarbonisation of the Italian economy at the Prime Minister's Office.: from October 2015 to December 2016. I was a member of the Technical Secretariat of the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience) at the Prime Minister's Office. I am a board member of a2a S.p.a. I coordinate the activties of a research group (RELAB – REnewable heating and cooling LAB) of about 35 people.
