Leader in the Italian food retail sector since 1957, Esselunga operates over 170 superstores and supermarkets in Lombardy, Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna, Piedmont, Veneto, Liguria and Lazio. All shops are served by its production, machining and distribution centers located at Limito di Pioltello (MI), Parma, Biandrate (NO) and Sesto Fiorentino (FI). The chains of Esserbella perfumeries and Bar Atlantic are also part of Esselunga. The history of Esselunga began in Milan in 1957, with the opening of the very first supermarket in Italy. Today, the Group employs around 25,000 people, has a turnover of €8.4 billion and 5.5 million loyal customers. The company constantly works towards product innovation, environmental protection and consumer protection.
